MuffinFinder Privacy Policy

Last updated April 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how MuffinFinder collects, uses, discloses, and retains information when you use MuffinFinder’s website, accounts, bakery tools, and related communications.

The short version: if you opt in to marketing for a bakery, MuffinFinder generally sends those messages by proxy rather than handing your contact details directly to that bakery. But public comments, usernames, or other visible interactions can still reveal who you are.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use MuffinFinder, we may collect:

  • Account details such as your name, display name, email address, login credentials, and verification status.
  • Profile and preference data such as saved shops, preferred city, bakery marketing opt-ins, and notification choices.
  • Bakery-management data if you claim or manage a bakery profile.
  • Content you submit, including comments, profile edits, messages, votes, or other interactions.
  • Usage and device data such as IP address, browser type, approximate location, pages visited, and interaction logs.
  • Cookie, session, and analytics data used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand service usage.

2. How we use information

We use information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, secure, and improve MuffinFinder.
  • Operate accounts, sign-in, saved shops, bakery claims, and bakery profile features.
  • Send service communications such as verification, security, transactional, and support messages.
  • Deliver bakery-specific marketing you asked to receive.
  • Personalize city, bakery, and product experiences.
  • Detect abuse, fraud, spam, policy violations, and technical problems.
  • Comply with law and enforce our terms.

3. How bakery marketing opt-ins work

If you opt in to receive marketing from a specific bakery, MuffinFinder may send that bakery’s promotions to you by email, in-app message, or notification if that channel is available and enabled.

Our default model is that MuffinFinder sends those communications on the bakery’s behalf. We do not plan to share your personal contact information directly with bakeries merely because you opted in to receive marketing from them.

You can withdraw a bakery marketing opt-in at any time using available unsubscribe or preference controls.

4. When bakeries or others may still identify you

Even when MuffinFinder acts as the marketing intermediary, your identity may still become known if you do something public or visible in the service.

  • If you post comments, feedback, or other public interactions that display your username or profile name.
  • If you communicate directly with a bakery through features that reveal your account identity.
  • If your chosen username or profile information is recognizable.

Please use care when choosing a display name and when submitting content that might be visible to bakeries or other users.

5. How we share information

We may share information:

  • With service providers that help us host, analyze, authenticate, email, and operate MuffinFinder.
  • With bakeries when necessary to administer claimed bakery profiles, investigate disputes, or operate a feature you intentionally use.
  • With other users or the public when you choose to make content or interactions visible.
  • When required by law or when necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the service.
  • As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

We do not sell your personal information to bakeries for their own independent marketing based solely on a bakery marketing opt-in.

6. Cookies, analytics, and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences such as city selection, measure traffic, and improve the service. Analytics tools may collect information about how you use MuffinFinder over time.

7. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to maintain accounts, deliver features, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.

Retention periods may vary by data type. Some information may remain in backups or logs for a limited period after deletion.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location and how MuffinFinder operates, you may be able to:

  • Access, update, or delete certain account information.
  • Change your display name, profile settings, or bakery marketing preferences.
  • Opt out of marketing emails, in-app campaigns, or notifications.
  • Disable cookies in your browser, subject to feature limitations.

Some rights may be limited where exceptions apply, such as security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children’s privacy

MuffinFinder is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice through MuffinFinder or by other reasonable means. The updated version will become effective when posted unless stated otherwise.

12. Contact

Questions or requests related to this Privacy Policy should be sent using the contact method MuffinFinder makes available at the time of your request.
